Police arrest suspect in Raleigh gas station attack

Gregory Leon Bolden

— Raleigh police have arrested a man who was caught on surveillance video allegedly hitting and kicking a woman before forcing her into a gas station bathroom early Tuesday morning.

Gregory Leon Bolden, 29, was charged Thursday with one count of assault in connection with the case and was being held without bond Thursday afternoon at the Wake County Detention Center.

Police responded to the Sheetz convenience store, at 5200 New Bern Ave., around 12:15 a.m. Tuesday after someone called 911 reporting a man beating a screaming woman inside a locked bathroom.

The two were gone, however, when officers arrived.

Investigators haven't said how Bolden and the woman might know each other but said they arrived at the store together.

Bolden, however, left on foot wearing the woman's white shirt, police said, and the woman, who had obvious injuries, drove away in the car.

they won't convict him because the woman probably won't be found and if she is found, won't testify. I think we can imagine what the relationship was.

Not condoning this at all. But I'm guessing there was wrong-doing by both individuals.

I think there should there be a kidnapping/false imprisonment charge with that for dragging her against her will into the bathroom. Go ahead and hit him with another felony.

Why not a charge of assault on a female also?

Probably not the best venue at which to assault someone.
