Police arrest man linked to 5 armed robberies in Raleigh

Officers with the Raleigh Police Department arrested Alvin Marion Pickett, 26, on Sunday after he attempted to rob a Pizza Hut located at 3116 Hillsborough Street.

— Police have arrested a man in connection with at least five armed robberies at several businesses and restaurants.

Officers with the Raleigh Police Department arrested Alvin Marion Pickett, 26, on Sunday after he attempted to rob a Pizza Hut located at 3116 Hillsborough Street.

Officials say Pickett fled the scene before completing the crime, and a witness provided officers with the description of a car he was seen entering. Pickett was arrested later at a traffic stop and taken into custody without further incident.

Officials started searching for the suspect in November after a series of armed robberies at Raleigh businesses appeared to be linked to one man.

According to officials, Pickett is responsible for at least five of the following robberies that occurred at sub and pizza shops, a pharmacy and a frozen yogurt bar.

  • Dec. 17 - Subway, 4003 Wake Forest Road
  • Dec. 13 - Hungry Howie's, 1814 Oberlin Road
  • Dec. 7 - Sweet Frog, 6260 Plantation Center Drive
  • Dec. 5 - Subway, 706 W. Peace Street
  • Nov. 27 - Jimmy John's, 5011 Falls of Neuse Road
  • Nov. 21 - Raleigh Pharmacy, 927 W. Morgan Street
  • Nov. 15 - Nora & Nicky's, 6520 Falls of Neuse Road

Pickett has been charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm and attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon. Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 919-834-HELP.

    Heard on TV that Alvin had three accomplices: Simon, Chubby and Theodore.
