— Apex police on May 13 searched the home of man who is accused of using a popular Web site, Craigslist, to meet with and rob a man on April 4.

Gary Rezendes, of 2805 Kentshire Place, is accused of getting into the man's car, pulling a knife and robbing him after they agreed to meet at a Home Depot parking lot at 1000 Vision Drive.

Rezendes got out of the car and ran away after the man gave him $40, according to police. The man attempted to chase Rezendes, but he wrecked his vehicle at a nearby Kentucky Fried Chicken, police said.

Authorities charged Rezendes with robbery with a dangerous weapon and held him on a $50,000 bond.

Just one more reason to own a concealed carry permit.

People answering Craiglist personal ads are often targeted for robbery by criminal groups because 1) it is assumed they will be alone and 2) depending on the nature of the ad they answer they may be too embarrassed to report the crime.

Yeah, Ive made deals through craigslist before and I always meet in a public place like that, and approach the other guy just as much as he approaches me.

Of course, I also generally bring a weapon just in case...

I think the mistake made here was that the buyer let the guy into his car. Kind of defeats the purpose of meeting in a public place. Much safer to get out of your car and be more visible. Lots of legitimate buyers and sellers on Craigs list.

Similar to the Erotic Services section of Craigslist, we also need to BAN the 'for sale' section as well. CRIME IS BEING COMMITTED from Craigslist for sale seciont!!! We must stop it!!! (yeah, a little sarcasm, just a tad)

Did the man think he was meeting a guy who was leaving choir practice at the church? If you're trolling on the bottom, this is what you're gonna get.
