FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — More than 70 shots were fired in the 1500 block of Grandview Drive in Fayetteville early Sunday, Police Chief Harold Medlock said.

Ravon Detrail Jordan, 19, was injured and died of his wounds Monday at Cape Fear Valley Hospital.

In a news conference Monday after Jordan's death and the shooting, Medlock expressed frustration with the ongoing plague of youth crime and pointed the finger at lax parenting.

"I'm angry, and everybody in this city should be angry," Medlock said. "I'm counting on parents of our children to find out where their kids are.  Why kids are out at one and two o'clock in the morning (at) 15, 16, 17 years old. I'm counting on our parents to start parenting their children and making sure they are home and that they are safe."

Medlock asked that anyone with information about the shootout contact detectives at 910-433-1856 or Crime Stoppers at 910-483-TIPS (8477). Tips can also be shared on Crime Stoppers' website or by texting a message to 274637. In the text box, type "4Tip" and then the message.
