Polar Ice House of Wake Forest is offering a free open house and clinic on Saturday, July 20! Kids get to try their hand at hockey while parents learn more about the new Polar House Hockey League, starting in the Fall 2013 at the Cary , Garner and Wake Forest locations.

The free clinic will begin with an hour-long on-ice clinic from 4:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. Afterward, players will have the chance to train like the ‘Canes, with stick and puck drills from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. These workshops will give kids a taste of what’s in store if they join the Polar House Hockey League.

During the clinic, parents will hear from Mark Hamlett, Polar House Hockey League director, about what to expect from this new program. The House Hockey League will offer a fall season, beginning September 6 and ending March 2. The league will be comprised of two divisions based on location, and an upper and lower division based on age group and player development. An awards ceremony will be held for players at the conclusion of each season.

The Polar House Hockey League gives players the advantage of playing at any of the Polar Ice House rinks with consistent practice times. The new league is a cost-effective alternative compared to the high prices of area travel leagues. The House Hockey League is a USA Hockey-sanctioned league, and the qualified staff provides dedicated management and guidance in a safe and fun environment. Camps and clinics will also be offered in the off-season to help players retain their skills and continue to experience the enjoyment of hockey.
