I wrote earlier about a new program at WakeMed designed for moms and their fourth and fifth grade daughters that delves into the topic of puberty. That program has proved so popular that the first session quickly filled up. So did a second program, which was created because of the strong response to the first one.

Never fear ... the Poe Center for Health Education in Raleigh has been offering another very popular program for girls in fourth to seventh grade and their moms called Girl Talk. There are nine openings left for the next session, which is 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Nov. 21.

Here's the description: "Girl Talk addresses the timely topic of adolescent growth and development and the physical, social and emotional changes that girls experience during puberty. Hands-on activities, 3D theater exhibits, movies and candid discussions help moms and daughters explore a range of topics from the workings of the reproductive system to the menstrual cycle to feminine hygiene protection and more."

The cost is $20 for each mother/daughter pair and $10 for each additional daughter. Poe's website has the details and registration information.
