Playground Review: Oakwood Park

Posted March 28, 2013

Oakwood Park is a smaller neighborhood park in Chapel Hill, not too far from University Mall. It got a major overhaul in 2011 when the town removed the old play structures and installed new ones.

The result is a sweet playground that features a nice blend of the traditional slides, swings and monkey bars and newer designs with fun ways to climb and play. A highlight: The large teeter totter with a spring that kids actually stand on.

I love that the playground is completely enclosed by a fence. And I'm told the neighbors have chickens, which you can sometimes see through the fence. Oakwood Park, Chapel Hill Playground Review: Oakwood Park

For a closer look, watch the quick video tour.

Oakwood Park is at 20 Oakwood Dr. in Chapel Hill. There are tennis courts and some open space across the street from the playground. There are no bathrooms here. Parking is on the street.

Go Ask Mom features places to take kids every Friday. For more ideas, check our posts on parks and playgrounds and Triangle family destinations.
