The Flaherty Park playground is a small piece of this 100-acre park in Wake Forest.

The focus here is on ball fields, a community center and a dog park, but the playground offers a diversion for kids waiting for baseball practice or watching their big sibling play or just looking for a new place to explore.

It's pretty standard playground fare with slides, monkey bars and various ways to climb. There are no swings here. But there is a giant plastic fish. Kids can climb through the center of the fish along its bones.

Check it out in this quick video tour.

Flaherty Park is at 1226 N. White St. in Wake Forest. A parking lot, bathrooms and a covered picnic area sit right next to the park.
Go Ask Mom features places to take kids every Monday. For more ideas, check our posts on park and playground reviews and Triangle family destinations.
