The two playgrounds at Clayton Community Park in Clayton mix the old and new style of play equipment.

You'll find swings, slides and monkey bars here. But you'll also find newer pieces that allow kids to spin, maneuver across ropes and balance on moving parts.

The 42-acre park at 1075 Amelia Church Rd. also includes ball fields, bocce ball courts, a pond, community center, a 1/2 mile walking trail, tennis courts and a nice picnic shelter right next to the park's main playground.

For a closer look at the playgrounds, watch my video tour. You will find bathrooms here and plenty of parking (though I was there on a cold, rainy weekday morning when no games were scheduled).

Go Ask Mom features places to take kids every Friday. Check our posts on parks and playgrounds and Triangle family destinations for more ideas.
