Several Raleigh community centers will feature Play Smart, a preschool safety skills program, starting next week.

The program, for ages 3 to 5, uses a kid-sized city, games and activities to teach kids basic safety rules about pedestrian safety, street signs, nutrition, fire safety and more. Kids, along with their adults, move between different stations during the course of the 90-minute program.

The cost is $6 per participant. You can sign up at a Raleigh community center. Each session is limited to 40 spaces. At last check earlier this week, there were plenty of spaces.

It's scheduled for Laurel Hills Community Center on March 19, Green Road center on March 26, Biltmore Hills center on April 2, Lake Lynn center on April 9, Optimist center on April 17 and Jaycee Park center on April 24. The sessions run from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
