<b>RALEIGH, N.C.</b> — An American Airlines pilot safely made an emergency landing at Raleigh-Durham International Airport Thursday morning.

The pilot said his the plane was having engine trouble and asked to divert to RDU, airport spokesman Andrew Sawyer said.

It wasn't immediately clear what the plane's original destination was.
