Plane forced to return to Charlotte airport after security threat

A flight bound for Minneapolis was forced to return to Charlotte Douglas International Airport Monday night after a security threat, according to officials.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A flight bound for Minneapolis was forced to return to Charlotte Douglas International Airport Monday night after a security threat, according to officials.

American Airlines flight 1865 from Charlotte, received a security threat shortly after takeoff, officials said.

The plane, which was carrying 178 passengers, returned to the airport and was cleared.

As a precaution, passengers were evacuated onto busses.

No additional information was immediately available.
