FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A single-engine plane crashed Friday afternoon at Fayetteville Regional Airport, injuring two people on board.

Dr. Nitin Desai and his wife, Rita Desai, were taken to Cape Fear Valley Hospital. They had leg injuries but are expected to make a full recovery.

Tony Coleman, assistant airport director, said the Mooney-20 – a small, four-seat, fixed-wing plane with tail number N118RZ – rolled and came to rest in a grassy area along the taxiway and parallel to the main runway. Traffic to the airport was not significantly disrupted, Coleman said.

The FAA was investigating the cause of the crash.
