Pizza hut manager delivers via kayaks in houston

There have been so many gut-wrenching and tragic stories coming out of Houston as the death toll rises and as countless Texans have lost their homes and all of their belongings. But, even in the wake of that tragedy, we can find rays of hope. People from around the country have donated their time, money and efforts into helping those in need. One Pizza Hut manager decided that meant even when it comes to delivering pizza.

Yes, you read that right. Pizza Hut manager Shayda Willison was heartbroken for her neighbors who lost everything. Some were still stranded due to floodwaters. Not only were they trapped by the flood, but they also needed food.

So, Willison sprung into action. Along with her husband, Willison prepared 120 pizza pies and delivered them (via kayak!) to her hungry and frightened neighbors. Free of charge.

Willison reports: “The people in the houses didn’t expect us to come. It was so nice to see their smiles after so much gloom.”

I can just imagine how happy those folks were! Even when it’s just a regular Friday night, the sound of the pizza delivery person ringing the doorbell is always an exciting sound. But when you are in the middle of a national emergency and you don’t know where your next meal is coming from? Surprise pizza delivery has to be one of the best things ever!

But, even better than the food itself, is the warmth and comfort from knowing that you have not been forgotten about. These people know their community is going to come back, stronger than ever, to help repair and rebuild.

Pizza Hut congratulates manager

Pizza Hut spoke out about how proud they are of Shayda Willison and her selfless efforts.

People inspired by Willison’s bravery and generosity shared their warm wishes on social media. And, they also shared their plans to order Pizza Hut for dinner!

I agree! She deserves a promotion…and you deserve pizza tonight!
