— A Pittsboro woman is accused of embezzling money from Perry Harrison School, where she worked as a bookkeeper.

Louisa May Johnson, 34, of 1419 Morris Road in Pittsboro, was taken into custody last week by detectives with the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office.

She is accused of stealing more than $9,000 from some Perry Harrison School accounts over the past several months.

Johnson was arrested without incident and charged with felonious obtaining property by false pretenses and two counts of felonious embezzlement.

She was released under a written promise, and is scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court on June 29.

WOW! I knew her. I worked at that school 3 years ago and she was there. I can't believe it. It's sad that people these days can't be honest and make their own living without stealing.

I hope they will look back further than this year for problems. With money as tight as it is now I'm sure 9000+ was a big loss for the school. Wonder how many signatures are required on the checks?

Stealing is stealing in a sense. She has no right to do that even if we Chatham residents resent the taxes we pay. She had a malice of intent and should be punished. She did not share it with fellow taxpayers.

woodrowboyd2 - I agree! I mean, its not like education is important or anything.

Oh, and its "owners" not "oweners".

i cant see any harm in what this lady has done
the school stole the money from taxpayers and she just returned it back to one of us rightful oweners
