— Pitt County authorities arrested a man on Thursday who they believe sexually assaulted a child "over a period of time," according to the sheriff's office.

Alejandro Gomez Garcia, 42, of 2827 Briery Swamp Road in Stokes, faces charges of first-degree sexual offense involving a child, indecent liberties with a child and first-degree kidnapping.

Authorities withheld details of the case to protect the victim's identity.

Garcia was placed in the Pitt County jail under a $500,000 secured bond.

In answer to your question, those who sexually assault a child in Hispanic cultures face the same legal charges - and generally harsher penalties - as those who do it here. The age of majority varies a little - not much.

It may be profiling but not racial profiling. You have 2 Hispanics, 1 white, 1 eastern europe. all we need is an african american.

Just where did this thought come from? Because a person is from a particular ethnic background, does that mean that the crime shouldn't be reported?

With this being the third sex story of the morning, I started wondering if more sex crimes happen in the spring? Does anyone know?
