Pitt deputy fired over drug, nudity allegations

Posted July 15, 2009

— A Pitt County deputy has been kicked off the force for violating ethical standards, officials said.

Lt. Michelle Pollard, the head of the Pitt County Sheriff's Office anti-gang unit, is accused of smoking marijuana and taking part in a wet T-shirt contest where she took off her shirt.

Pollard has denied the drug allegations and said she doesn't recall the wet T-shirt contest, noting someone drugged her beer while she was in a local bar.

Pollard also was the focus of a civil lawsuit in the death of her husband, Stacey, who was found in the couple's pool in 2007. A judge recently threw out the case.

Now more tax payers dollars will be spent in the courts when this officer tries to sue to get gher job back!!

Well, seems as though we have another "isolated case" of an officer doing the wrong thing. Seems to be an awful lot of :isolated incidents" here lately. What an officer does off duty is just as important as what she does on duty. She has an image to uphold for the department she works for, as far as the drugs, a simple pee test will clear that issue up, oh wait, she was drugged while at a local bar...riiiiiiight!!!

As a law enforcement officer for a city very close to Greenville, I am appalled that a Law Enforcement Officer would conduct themselves in a manner such as this. lovesanimals is absolutely correct, a LEO is to conduct themselves as if they were on duty 24/7. They tell you in the academy, "you know live in a glass house. Everyone is now watching you. Conduct yourselves accordingly, both on AND off duty." Someone who is as high ranking as her should know this. I am deeply offended because it is situations such as this that give us good police officers a bad name.

Personally(and joking), she was just staying in touch with her training. She works in the Anti-Gang Unit. Before you can understand what you are chasing, you have to jump in and experience what they experience. That way you can understand them better. She was just training for her job. Wish I had been in that class.

Any law enforcement official is on duty 24/7. They also take a moral oath and she has obviously forgotten that. And, according to the pictures that are the justice 4 stacey web site ..... she didn't seem drugged or inside a bar. The N.C. Sheriff's Education and Training Standards Commission has done what should have been done a long time ago.
