Pitt County deputies shot a gun-wielding suspect on Wednesday at a home in Greenville.

GREENVILLE, N.C. — Pitt County deputies shot a gun-wielding suspect on Wednesday at a residence in Greenville.

Authorities responded around 8 p.m. to 507 Jonathan Place in reference to someone with a gun threatening another person. When deputies arrived, they were confronted by the suspect, who had a gun.

Deputies shot the person, according to the Pitt County Sheriff's Office. The suspect, who was not identified, was taken to Vidant Medical Center.

The deputies were not injured.

Sheriff Neil Elks requested the State Bureau of Investigation conduct the investigation into the shooting.
