Pitt County couple charged with child abuse

Posted August 30, 2013

A Greenville man and woman accused of hurting their 3-month-old have been charged with child abuse, the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.

Investigators said family members who hadn’t seen the infant for some time became concerned and went to the child’s home. They saw the baby’s condition and called an ambulance.

Deputies were called to Vidant Medical Center to investigate and said the child had signs of neglect and obvious physical injuries.

Juana Torres Sutton, 19, and Heriberto Mandoza Olguin, 20, both of the 400 block of Northwest Acres Drive, were each charged with negligent child abuse/serious physical injury and held at the Pitt County Detention Center.

Sutton was held under a $50,000 secured bond. Olguin was released after posting a $25,000 secured bond.

Poor little sweet innocent baby - so many people would love to have and love/nourish a baby of their own. Why, oh why, can't parents who do not want nor love their little innocents let someone else love them.

Naysayer- how about some empathy for this poor baby or appreciation for the family members who took it upon themselves to intervene instead of trying to turn every story into fodder for your political opinions?

I pray the child will be ok, and that it will never be alone in the presence of either of these people again.

Animals care better for their young than some people do.

Open borders are such as a wonderful thing. Guarantee these 2 were receiving public assistance, now taxpayers need to pay for the injures and on going care for their child, plus expenses to put the 2 of them in prison and feed them. If only the dream act had been passed I am sure none of this would have happened.
