Pinehurst places limits on golf cart use

Posted July 23, 2008

— The Village of Pinehurst has updated its ordinance on golf cart use after the North Carolina General Assembly passed a law allowing carts on public roads.

Effective Tuesday, golf carts are legal on public streets when traveling to or from a golf course within village limits.

Golf carts are still not allowed on or along state roads, including:

  • U.S. Highway 15-501
  • Page Road north and south of N.C. Highway 211
  • N.C. Highway 211
  • N.C. Highway 2
  • N.C. Highway 5
  • Morganton Road
  • Linden Road

Drivers are required by law to have insurance and a valid permit for golf cart use. Details of the ordinance are available on the Village of Pinehurst Web site.

Strange language, does this mean we can leave raleigh and drive our golf carts anywhere in nc as long as we are going to play golf, and as long as we do not drive on the mentioned streets? Of is the kicker the language about being within the village. Seems like this was wrote just for the village of pinehurst, and if it was, why did it not read that way, pinehurst only.

Does the entire WRAL viewing area need to know this area's regulation on the use of golf carts??
