Pinehurst places limits on golf cart use

Effective Tuesday, golf carts are legal on public streets when traveling to or from a golf course within village limits.

PINEHURST, N.C. — The Village of Pinehurst has updated its ordinance on golf cart use after the North Carolina General Assembly passed a law allowing carts on public roads.

Effective Tuesday, golf carts are legal on public streets when traveling to or from a golf course within village limits.

Golf carts are still not allowed on or along state roads, including:

  • U.S. Highway 15-501
  • Page Road north and south of N.C. Highway 211
  • N.C. Highway 211
  • N.C. Highway 2
  • N.C. Highway 5
  • Morganton Road
  • Linden Road
 
Drivers are required by law to have insurance and a valid permit for golf cart use. Details of the ordinance are available on the Village of Pinehurst Web site.
