Pinehurst No. 2: Hole 6

A hole-by-hole look at Pinehurst No. 2 ahead of the US Open in June.

Posted Updated

Par 3, 219 yards, HCP 17/5

This was the 6th-most difficult hole in the ’05 U.S. Open. It’s a long-iron or fairway wood for many and the bunkers will catch anything hit offline with a severe slope off the front of the green.

Our take:

Gerald Owens, anchor/reporter: I pared this hole. Expect pros to go low on this one, depending on where the flag is cut for that particular day. Wind up short of the green, and your ball will roll backwards.
