Pinehurst No. 2: Hole 10

A hole-by-hole look at Pinehurst No. 2 ahead of the US Open in June.

Posted Updated

Par 5, 617 yards, HCP 10/18

This is the longest hole on the course, with bunkers on either side on the middle of the fairway.

Our take:

Gerald Owens, anchor/reporter: A good drive and a hybrid will put you in birdie position with a short iron into the green. The loft will help them stop the ball and they’ll need it. I think the long hitters will do well with this hole.

Jeff Gravley, sports anchor: At 617 yards, it’s the longest on the course for the Open. The new tee box for the pros has been placed in Sanford -- Waaayyyy back there. Our caddies said we could play it from the Open tee box but we declined. We did walk back there to see just how long the new tee box changed the hole. No problem for the long knockers but you better be on the right side of the fairway for the 2nd shot.
