Pinehurst man arrested for possession, intending to sell crack cocaine

Deputies from the Moore County Sheriff's Office arrested a man Wednesday following of a search of his home located at 204 Spring Lake Road, in Pinehurst.

Deputies from the Moore County Sheriff's Office arrested a man Wednesday following of a search of his home located at 204 Spring Lake Road, in Pinehurst.

Douglas Alexander Russell, 55, is charged with possession with the intent to sell and deliver cocaine, possession with the intent to sell and deliver a schedule II controlled-substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and the possession of drug paraphernalia.

The search resulted from receiving multiple complaints of possible drug activity.

During the search, deputies seized five dosage units of crack-cocaine, 20 Tramadol prescription pills, assorted drug paraphernalia and a firearm.

Russell was placed in the Moore Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond. He is expected to make his first court appearance on July 11.
