Pikeville man charged with child sex offenses

Posted February 4, 2013

— A 49-year-old man is facing charges in connection with the sexual assault of a child, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.

Donald Scott Taylor, of the 100 block of Leigh Street in Pikeville, is charged with four counts of first-degree sex offense with a child and four counts of indecent liberties with a child.

Deputies said they received a report from a victim who said she was molested from the age of 6 until she was 12 years old. She said the incidents took place in the suspect’s home.

Deputies said Taylor has been cooperative in the investigation. He was held on a $4.1 million secured bond.

Sad,sad, very sad for this young lady and family! Not being one to judge before everyone involved gets their day in court. I do wonder though why did it go on over such a long time with out the changes in the child being noticed? Next thing I often wonder is how "IF" and I use the word ("IF")because all involved have not had their day in court So all the facts are not out,If this man by some twist is not guilty how does he prove this ? example do any of you know were you where and what you where doing six years ago on any given day.How would anyone of you defend and prove that your Innocent Because this now days is the only criminal charges that you'r not "innocent until proven guilty", you are "guilty until you prove your innocent" just look at 99% of the posts make here as soon as this kind of stories break, as for it happening we all need to realize it does and on a large of a scale.Does it happen any more than 20 years ago ?I think not,I believe we have more media coverage of it.

Let's not make this liberal vs conservative or red/blue debate, for it isn't. It is about human nature, its control, and punishment alone is not enough to stop child abuse.

Recent studies suggest pedophilia is innate, and if so, I think someone drawn to pre-pubescence children should be aware and then avoid being around children. If society would be enlightened enough to allow them to self-identify those urges BEFORE acting on them, then like handicapped access, we could have access denied help for them. It's hard for the majority to understand that 1 in a hundred (mostly males) but if we think about our desire for age appropriate people and transfer that to understand their compulsion, then maybe we can avoid the damage being done better than punishment alone is doing. These illegal, immoral, damaging acts are being revealed weekly on WRAL. Imagine how many more are not being revealed, but the harm is being done. With harsh punishment not working alone, something proactive must be done! I don't know what, but something. Perhaps periodic screening of children at Kindergarten, 3rd, 6th, 9th grades by some yet-to-be devised non-intrusive test.

"I have said this time and time and time again - but liberals do not like it. There are people out there who's sexual preference is children."

As a liberal, I don't know any other liberals who don't acknowledge that pedophiles exist. Now, if you are referring to whether being gay is equal to being a pedophile, you are wrong. The facts don't bear that out.

But, yes, unfortunately there are people in this world who prey on children. I can't imagine anyone denies this since we see it in the news far too often.

"I have said this time and time and time again - but liberals do not like it."

Well I don't know what being liberal or conservative has to do with this, but I think most people would agree this guy is sick and needs to have some serous consequences to deal with.

I have said this time and time and time again - but liberals do not like it.

There are people out there who's sexual preference is children.

When they stop being deniers - then we can talk.
