Detectives identify victim in Fayetteville restaurant shooting

A person was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for treatment after a Tuesday night shooting in the parking lot of Smoky Bones restaurant near the Cross Creek Mall in Fayetteville.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A man was seriously injured Tuesday night after a shooting in the parking lot of Smoky Bones restaurant near the Cross Creek Mall in Fayetteville.

Fayetteville police said officers responded to the restaurant at 1891 Skibo Road at 7:12 p.m. and found Algeria Khalyid McNair, 21, of Fayetteville, who sustained gunshot wounds to his face, neck and knee. McNair was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. He was undergoing surgery Tuesday night.

Dozens of officers, including Fayetteville Police Chief Harold Medlock, were on the scene and customers inside the restaurant were being escorted to their vehicles by police.

Witnesses on the scene said a revolver was spotted on the ground near a white car in the parking lot.

Police do not believe the incident was random.
