Man hit, killed by Amtrak train in Burlington

— A 25-year-old man was hit and killed by an Amtrak train in Burlington Tuesday afternoon.

Franklin D. Gwynn, of Gunn Street in Burlington, was hit by a northbound train in the area of the 100 block of North Fisher Street near West Webb Avenue. The incident occurred at about 2 p.m. as the train approached the Burlington Amtrak Station.

Amtrak personnel reported seeing Gwynn walking on the tracks prior to the incident, police said.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.

    What is it with walking on the tracks? Do people also think they can walk down the middle of a highway and not get hit? Of course not, so why the train track??
