DOT contractor hit in Johnston work zone
A man working on a bridge project for the North Carolina Department of Transportation was struck by an SUV Tuesday morning on U.S. Highway 70 in Johnston County.

Amber Nims was westbound on U.S. 70 when her Dodge SUV ran off the right side of the road and hit a guardrail near Bear Farm Road, just west of the Neuse River, according to the State Highway Patrol. She over-corrected, went back across the highway and hit Mark Licius, 47, of Moneta, Va.
Licius was taken to WakeMed in Raleigh with minor injuries, authorities said.
Nims, 29, of 103 Apple Court in Clayton, was charged with failure to maintain lane control. She wasn't hurt.
