Woman steals Good Samaritan's SUV after I-40 crash

Three people were charged after a crash near Morrisville early Sunday morning.

MORRISVILLE, N.C. — Three people were charged after a crash near Morrisville early Sunday morning.

According to officials with the State Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred in the westbound lanes of Interstate-40 at Exit 284 for Airport Boulevard around 2 a.m.

Highway Patrol troopers said three cars were involved in the crash and when a Good Samaritan stopped to offer help, 24-year-old Lauren Starks, a Duke nurse and passenger in one of the vehicles, stole the Good Samaritan's SUV.

Starks was charged with DWI and auto theft.

The driver of the car Starks was in was also charged with DWI as well as driving with a revoked license.

Another driver involved in the crash was charged with DWI. Drug charges against that driver are pending, authorities said.
