Persevering on the racing track despite obstacles

Posted February 18, 2014

Wendell Scott was NASCAR’s first African-American star and is the only one to compete full-time in the NASCAR Winston-Cup Series. He had 147 top-10 finishes in nearly 500 races. He finished in the top-20 in nearly 80 percent of his races. He won one race in 1963, becoming the first African-American to do so. But that win was filled with controversy.

Wendell Scott is my second favorite driver of all time behind Richard Petty!

A movie was made in 1977 about Wendell Scott called Greased Lightning. Richard Pryor played Wandell's role. As much as don't care for Richard Pryor it's still a great movie.
