Perdue urges support for troops
Gov. Beverly Perdue spent part of Friday morning with airmen at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in Goldsboro.

Perdue toured the base with Col. Mark Kelly, who briefed her on training and deployments. She also visited a base day care to talk about education and support for military families.
Military personnel from the base continue to play key roles in operations in both Iraq and Afghanistan through deployments.
Perdue is urging all North Carolinians to pledge more support for members of the armed forces.
"Do stuff every day. Write a letter or an e-mail, send something to some of these children who are here without parents," she said. "Reach out and make this actually, and not just in words, the most military-friendly state in America."
Units from Seymour Johnson are still waiting to hear if they will be part of President Obama's troop surge in Afghanistan.
On Monday, Perdue will be at Camp Lejeune, where 8,000 Marines and sailors will deploy to Afghanistan over the next six months.
