— Raleigh police officers used pepper spray to break up a fight involving six students at the start of the school day at Leesville Road High School Thursday.

Each student was charged with one count of simple assault, police spokesman Jim Sughrue said. Four of the students were 16 years old, one student was 15 years old, and one student was 14 years old.

The 14- and 15-year-olds were released into the custody of their parents, and the 16-year-olds were taken to the Wake County jail.

More details haven't been released.

I been to about 3high schools in Raleigh Nc. I go to Leesville and I can see why this made it on the News. Leesville is about getting an Education. I was at school when the fight got started Leesville is very good at getting the problem taking care of because I didn't know what it was a fight until I turn on the news this morning. That's the reason I moved from Enloe because of all the fighting and carrying on. but I hope that Leesville don't become another Enloe.

travissrt: basically what it boils down 2 is if its negative n criminal in any general way the 1st thing that runs threw several of these ppls minds are it has to be someone with color. All those stats said were our criminal justice system still has a very long way to go and ppl should be outraged!! I cant believe a fight in a majority white school turned into "hoods" did it! Boy I prey for my daughters generation these folks with that kind of mind set are old and grey and in homes cause the older they get the closer we get to some sort of racial equality.. white kids can be troublesome 2!

my teachers didnt have pepper spray but they did have a big wooden paddle and wouldnt think twice about using it.

This is not a race issue. The fight that took place should not have happened at all on school property. This is clearly an issue of how "bad" our schools have become and the need for police enforcement. If kids feel the need to fight, don't come to school. I believe that all teachers should be allowed to carry pepper spray and use it if the need arises. If these type of kids choose to carry out this type of behavior or any other disruptive behavior, EXPEL ALL for the rest of the year.

I don't think that it's just the news or just RPD being racial, it's a simple matter of fact. For example, African Americans make up 13% of the US population but occupy over 50% of the nations Jail/Prison cells. That's US, NOT Raleigh or NC statistics. Nationwide 12 percent of all black males in their twenties were in jails or prisons last June 30, as were an estimated 3.7 percent of Hispanic males and 1.6 percent of white males in that age group. Sixty-eight percent of prison and jail inmates were members of racial or ethnic minority groups.

easly fooled..The news is just as racial as they are making you it's sad. If you pay real close attention or really look into criminal situations it isnt that minorities commit more crimes its that they are the ones that get published the majority of the time white kids do the same things but Raleigh PD seems to forgive easier and give warning or dismissels I know plenty of white kids who snorted coke in the back of their classes had unregistered weapons etc. With all that aside all of you grown buisness folks make it hard for juvenilles these days because your so quick to label them and thats where it ends. Why not allow kids to make mistakes anymore n be allowed forgiveness when they try to take a positive path? Where is the compassion and understanding so many of you seem to lack in these post -- stop acting like a crab in the bucket. Im finished now unless 1 of you say some more ignorant mess ... oh Chai *claps* loved your posts please help these people!

You know, most of these comments are utterly ridiculous. I went to Jr and Sr High School in Cary. There were fights 25 years ago as well. Sometimes, letting a couple of boys (or girls) duke it out helps to blow off steam. If they bottle these emotions up until adulthood, they'll probably go Postal at some point.

What really sickens me is that one or all of these kids will probably face felony charges. That, IMHO, is ridiculous. That seems to be society's answer to everything now: charge them with a crime.

We have become a society of wusses. You can learn a lot from a good but-whipping.

I read this blog earlier n thought to myself wow some people and their ignorant minded narrow views of the general picture of what the outside world builds for them and only allows them to see. If you dont experiance you have no idea the situation and Im going to LMAO when you find out it was a bunch of white kids fighting over something ridiculous cause kids are going to be kids and your not meant to understand it. With that choose your battles and quit B.W.&Complaining at least it wasnt guns or anything it was a fist fight they took it back where most kids dont do that anymore. I know 6yrs ago when I graduated we had people fist fight and the cops came and every1 watching jumped in the cars n took off. Ur thoughts of "why cant kids just learn and have fun in school" really??? did you do JUST that??? That said aside I really dont know if I should get started on the fact because you see 80% of minorities in the news that ur lead to believe they are the problem.... I know you arent that
