Durham, N.C. — Durham police are investigating after two pedestrians were struck by a vehicle early Sunday morning.
Authorities said that Chase Etienne Tripp, 25, and J.C. Justice III, 20, were struck by a white 2007 GMC Yukon driven by Elijahio Taylor Jr., 18, of Durham on N.C. Highway 147 near Briggs Avenue at about 3:45 a.m.
Taylor fled the scene following the crash, but was later found on Bedford Street, authorities said. Charges are pending.
Tripp and Justice were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Tripp was in critical condition and Justice was in stable condition Sunday evening.
Police said a preliminary investigation indicated that neither speed nor alcohol were factors in the crash.
