Posted October 25, 2013

— A pedestrian was taken to WakeMed with minor injuries early Friday after being hit by a car on Interstate 40 near the Rock Quarry Road exit, Raleigh police said.

According to investigators, the man was hit at about 6:30 a.m. by a car that was merging onto the highway. The man's name was not released, but authorities said he could have been trying to cross I-40 when he was hit.

It wasn't clear if the driver would face charges.

MissB, the article says they think he may have been CROSSING I40, that's not smart but it's also no illegal I don't think.

Whenever the words pedestrian and Interstate are used in the same sentence it's usually bad news.

Obamacare is here - when is 6:30am considered the evening?

Walking is a necessary evil for some folks to get to and from work. How many pedestrians have to get injured or killed in this area before we get a walkway like the one on I-440 near Hillsborough St.?

Interstates are for vehicles not pedestrians.

I-40 is so beautiful to walk this time of year with the leaves falling, scattered car mufflers, worn our tire rubber, litter, broken glass, etc. Plus highway 40 is a great shortcut for pedestrians who need a straight route to the Triad or even the mountains of NC.

It sure would be nice if people would stop taking evening strolls along the interstates around here.

I thought it was illegal to walk along the interstate??

If i was going to walk on the highway, it would be fair into the grass. The only person that could hit me would be some drunk driver.
