Pedestrian struck by car in Raleigh

A woman was hit by a car on South Wilmington Street near Tryon Road in Raleigh Wednesday afternoon, closing two southbound lanes and causing traffic backups in the area, authorities said.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A woman was hit by a car on South Wilmington Street near Tryon Road in Raleigh Wednesday afternoon, closing two southbound lanes and causing traffic backups in the area, authorities said.

The woman, whose name was not released, was trying to cross the street when she was stuck by an oncoming car. 

She was taken to WakeMed with serious, but not life-threatening, head injuries, police said.

No charges are expected.
