Pedestrian struck, killed in Spring Lake

A pedestrian was struck and killed when crossing North Carolina Highway 87 Saturday around 8:50 p.m., officials said.

The incident, which happened in the northbound lane, was not a hit-and-run.

Investigators are still working to identify the male victim.

The driver was not injured, and police do not suspect alcohol or speed to be factors in the crash, but said the pedestrian may have been intoxicated.

Police did not comment on whether charges will be filed.
