An elderly male was struck and killed Sunday while trying to cross a Fayetteville street, police confirmed.

Fayetteville police responded to an incident at 5:48 p.m. Sunday on Cliffdale Road near Seventy First Road where they said Stanley Probst, 75, of Radnor Drive, was attempting to cross the street when he was struck in the center outbound lane by a 2012 Kia Rio.

Emergency Medical Services arrived at the scene to find Probset unresponsive.

The driver of the Rio was identified as Connie Simmons, 53, of Dead Wyler Drive. Police said the case remains under investigation, but no charges had been filed.

Police responded to a separate incident at a nearby intersection late Saturday night after a vehicle ran off the road and crashed into a light pole, killing the male driver.

I love the way comment sections have become an affirmation to place judgements on situations unseen.

...if you are not able to walk independently, then you should not be crossing using this method. use a vehicle..and there should be a crossing at least 1 per every 2 miles of a shopping center with more than 3 businesses.
