A 52-year-old man walking along a road in Holly Springs on Monday night died after being hit by a vehicle, officials said.

Patrick John McDonald, 52, of Holly Springs, was walking along Avent Ferry Road near Trotter Bluffs Drive around 11:15 p.m., according to Holly Springs police. The man was struck from behind.

Police do not anticipate filing any charges in the case.
