Pedestrian struck, killed by SUV in Fayetteville

Cliffdale Road was closed into early Wednesday morning after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. — Cliffdale Road was closed into early Wednesday morning after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle.

Fayetteville police responded at 10:36 p.m. on Tuesday to a location near the intersection of Cliffdale Road and Mill Cove Drive, according to the police department. Officers said a man was walking on the road when he was struck by a 1999 Ford Explorer driven by Latrice Jones, 23, of Fayetteville.

The pedestrian, identified as Brian Howard, 32, of the 900 block of Crescent Commons Way, died in the collision.

Jones was charged Tuesday afternoon with driving with a revoked license.
