RALEIGH, N.C. — An 18-year-old man was taken to WakeMed with serious injuries late Thursday after being hit by a vehicle at the intersection of Jones Franklin Road and Crossroads Boulevard in Cary, police said.

Mohamed Farhan, of Raleigh, was listed in critical condition early Friday.

According to investigators, Farhan was in the crosswalk about 10 p.m. when he was hit by a PT Cruiser driven by 22-year-old Kelsey Pittman, of Apex.

It wasn't clear if charges would be filed in the wreck, and police did not release more information about how Farhan was hit.

Authorities closed the roadway from Centerview Drive to Dillard Drive while they investigated.
