A pedestrian died Friday evening after being hit by a train in Benson, Johnston County officials said.

— A 33-year-old woman died Friday night after being hit by a CSX train in Benson, police said.

Officers were called to the Hill Street crossing at about 6 p.m.

Investigators said Melissa Brooke Boucher, who lives near the crossing, died after being hit.

“Our investigation has determined that no foul play was involved in this incident. In the absence of any additional information, the incident has been classified as an accidental death," Benson Police Chief Kenneth Edwards said in a statement.

"This is, however, still an obviously tragic situation, and we would like to express our condolences to the Boucher family, on the loss of their family member."

Even a deaf person will know when A train is coming. The ground had a rumble and the horns cut right though you. I have begun to believe that anyone hit by a train while on foot, is committing suicide.

I don't understand how all these pedestrian and train accidents, trains do not run in silent mode and unless a person is deaf how do they not hear a train coming?
