Pedestrian killed in Garner crash identified
Authorities on Thursday identified a man who was struck and killed by a van on U.S. Highway 401 Wednesday night near Garner.
Posted — UpdatedGARNER, N.C. — Authorities on Thursday identified a man who was struck and killed by a van on U.S. Highway 401 Wednesday night near Garner.
Calvin John Spencer Jr., 51, of Malibu Drive in Raleigh, was hit by a vehicle driven by Fausto Cabeza, 42, of Fuquay-Varina, near the U.S. 401 intersection with Ten-Ten Road, authorities said.
Spencer wasn't carrying any identification, so it took State Highway Patrol troopers a while to identify him.
Highway Patrol spokesman Sgt. Jorge Brewer said there are no plans to charge Cabeza.
