Pedestrian killed in Fayetteville wreck

— A pedestrian died early Wednesday after being hit by a van on Raeford Road near Strickland Bridge Road, Fayetteville police said.

Law enforcement officers responded to the area just before 7 a.m. No other injuries were reported in the wreck, and authorities have not identified the pedestrian who was struck.

Crews closed several lanes of Raeford Road following the wreck. Drivers should avoid the area if possible.

No other information has been released. Anyone with information about the wreck should call the Fayetteville Police Department at 910-433-1830.

    It appears the "wreck" happened after the pedestrian was "hit."

    If you are from Fayetteville it's VERY difficult.

    Why was the pedestrian in the roadway? Don't go into the roadway before making sure the road is clear. This is not difficult.
