Pedestrian killed by vehicle in Fayetteville

Fayetteville police say they are investigating after an 82-year-old man was killed by a vehicle Thursday evening.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville police say they are investigating after an 82-year-old man was killed by a vehicle Thursday evening.

A 2001 Chevy driven by Douglas Thaggard, 40, of Charlotte, was traveling west on Cedar Creek Road when his vehicle struck and killed Peter Bricker III, of Pine Knolls Shores, police said.

Bricker was attempting to cross Cedar Creek Road when he was hit and he was not in the crosswalk, police said.

The incident remains under investigation.
