Pedestrian hit by truck in Halifax County

A Toyota pickup truck struck Rodney Lynch, 45, of Hollister, at about 9:45 p.m. on Ita Road, according to the state Highway Patrol. 

Troopers said the driver, whose name was not released, claimed two men were walking on Ita Road when one of them crossed in front of his truck. The other pedestrian also told troopers that Lynch walked in front of the truck, authorities said.

Lynch, who was wearing dark clothing, was knocked into a ditch, troopers said. He was taken by helicopter to Pitt Memorial Hospital for treatment. His condition was not released.
