Pedestrian dies after being hit in Durham

A man suffered life-threatening injuries after he was hit by a vehicle while crossing the street in Durham late Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, police said.

— Durham police said Wednesday that a man who was hit by a car two days ago has died.

Osahon Osifo, 23, was crossing South LaSalle Street near Campus Walk Avenue, about two blocks from Duke University's campus, at about 11:20 p.m. Monday when he was struck by a northbound Honda Accord driven by Yu Chen, 27, of Durham.

There was no indication that the driver was speeding or under the influence of alcohol when the accident occurred, according to investigators.

No charges have been filed and the accident remains under investigation, a police spokeswoman said Wednesday.

    At 11:20 pm I suspect the victim was wearing dark clothing thus the driver did not see him. Prayers to the driver and both families as they deal with this.
