Payson finally gets curbside recycling program

PAYSON, Utah — The small city of Payson finally has curbside recycling after years of requests from residents.
The Daily Herald in Provo reports (http://bit.ly/2fhxquk ) that the service will start next month. Payson City Manager David Tuckett says requests have been coming in for at least five years and increased after large recycling bins were removed from Payson schools.
Tuckett says people were coming to city council meetings demanding to know why other nearby cities had recycling program and not Payson.
The city chose a program that will pick up recycling every other week. The city of about 20,000 is 60 miles south of Salt Lake city.
Payson City Councilman Doug Welton says the lack of recycling became one of the biggest issues of concern for residents in recent history.
