Pawn shop employees charged in stolen goods probe

Five employees of local pawn shops were charged Monday in a three-month undercover investigation into the fencing of stolen goods, police said.

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Five employees of local pawn shops were charged Monday in a three-month undercover investigation into the fencing of stolen goods, police said.

Elizabeth Gillespie O’Banion, 37, of 2381-C U.S. Highway 70 West in Goldsboro, was charged with four counts of receiving stolen goods and two counts of pawnbroker record-keeping violation. Mark Anthony Throm, 51, of 271 Grant Drive in Goldsboro, was charged with one count of receiving stolen goods. Eric C. Ludwig, 56, of 200 Bayleaf Drive in Goldsboro, was charged with one count of pawnbroker record-keeping violation.

All three worked at Quality Jewelry and Pawn, police said.

William Christopher Reavis, 38, of 103 Tow Bridge Lane in Goldsboro, was charged with two counts of receiving stolen goods and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon. Kelletrina Marie Reavis, 37, of the same address, was charged with one count of receiving stolen goods.

The Reavises worked at Gold City Pawn, police said.
