Patsy Aiken Outlet in Raleigh to close this week

The line of children's clothes, now 35 years old, is moving its operations from Raleigh to Wilmington. Its warehouse sale wraps up this week.

Back in October, a reader alerted me to the fact that the Patsy Aiken Outlet in Raleigh was advertising its last warehouse sale.

For those who aren't familiar with the business, the brand offers boutique clothing for children and is known for its bright colors and patterns, cute styles, solid quality and bathing suits. It's been in business for 35 years. The sales at its warehouse on Hargrove Road have been a staple for many a Triangle mom.

Patsy Aiken Outlet is closing on Nov. 22 in Raleigh.

As soon as that reader told me about the plans for the last sale, I emailed Patsy Aiken, herself, to get the full story. I've since emailed or called her more times, but she's been so busy she's not had time to call or email me back with more information other than to say she's just plain busy and would get back to me as soon as she could! And now I'm realizing that it's the last week of the sale. It all ends on Friday, Nov. 22.

There is a good explanation of what's happening to the business, which is linked from the Patsy Aiken Facebook page. They are closing the Raleigh location and moving it to Wilmington, where the family lives now. They will continue to sell items online. Click here to read more about it.

I popped into the store toward the end of last week to see what's left. There were some great deals on children's clothing. They also had fabric and ribbon on sale when I was there.

The outlet is at 4812 Hargrove Rd. in Raleigh. I know lots of people are sad to see Patsy leave the Triangle!
