Chapel Hill, N.C. — The pastor of a Chatham County church vandalized in what investigators called a hate crime said that insurance and donations have covered repairs.
Mark Hall, pastor of Lighthouse Baptist Church, said the insurance company told him it will cover all the damages, and gifts to the church have already met the deductible.
"God has done more than we could ask or think," Hall said.
The church, at 12063 U.S. Highway 15/501 in Chapel Hill, was vandalized overnight last Friday. Satanic and obscene messages were sprayed on the church's walls, hymn books were destroyed, and windows were broken.
Investigators with the Chatham County Sheriff's Office said on Monday the vandalism met the criteria for a hate crime. No arrests have been made.
