Howard Alexander Hargett, 37, of 6420 Brookshire St., was charged with simple assault.

Police said Hargett attacked a man aboard Delta Airlines Flight 3928 from Memphis, Tenn., at about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

I live in Fayetteville and know him, his brother is one of my best friends. Everyone calls him Alex. Listen, he isn't racist or a tea-partier or anything like that, dude is just a meth head. Seriously, that is all this is. He went to Las Vegas last week, and apparently had been up since his second day there. When the officers first questioned him, he said he had a flashback because the guy was middle-eastern. he is not a veteran. He was just so strung out on meth, he thought he flashed back to something that never even happened.

Please, stop saying this guy is motivated politically or something. He is WAY to stupid to even begin contemplating issues that serious. This was nothing but drugs and stupidity, believe me.

Everyone profiles. We all judge those around us and adjust our interactions with others. These judgments are based on many factors - age, race, gender, clothing, physical features, behavior, posture, and a million other little things. It's part of human nature and essential to living in society. Problems arise when we make judgments based on one characteristic in a vacuum. In airports and other venues we need to profile, just not based on race/ethnicity/religion alone. We need to profile based on the total package - if we did, chances are this idiot might not have gotten on the plane.

Latino sitting quietly on an aisle seat, don't talk to me, don't smile at me and don't even look at me, I'm too blankety-blank busy helping the pilot fly the aircraft....

Then sweetie, you should ride in a private car.
